What is e-Adisyon? A compliance and readiness guide for restaurants in Turkey

An e-Adisyon is the electronic version of the guest check (adisyon) that Turkish food and drink businesses issue for table service. This guide covers who it applies to, what an e-Adisyon must show, how it differs from a digital check, and what to do before you switch.

What is e-Adisyon?

An e-Adisyon is an electronic document governed by Tax Procedure Law (VUK) General Communiqué No. 509, with the same legal standing as a paper guest check. According to the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB), it isn't a new type of document: it's the existing guest check issued and stored electronically, with its data reported to GİB.

A guest check lists the items served to a table and their prices. When the guest pays, an invoice, an e-Archive invoice or a cash register (ÖKC) receipt is issued as well, and the e-Adisyon is linked to that fiscal document.

Who has to issue guest checks and e-Adisyon?

There are two separate obligations: issuing a guest check at all, and issuing it electronically as an e-Adisyon.

Issuing guest checks

Generally, eateries, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, bars and similar food and drink businesses that offer table service and are taxed under the standard (real) method.

e-Adisyon

Businesses registered for e-Invoice or e-Archive Invoice that GİB has brought into scope or notified in writing. A transition period follows the notice, and businesses outside the scope can switch voluntarily.

Usually out of scope

  • Self-service venues (guests order at the counter)
  • Delivery-only or online-only sales with no table service
  • Businesses taxed under the simplified method

Scope depends on your tax status, how you sell and whether GİB has notified you. Confirm your situation with your accountant and GİB's latest announcements (ebelge.gib.gov.tr).

What an e-Adisyon must show

  • The issuing business's full name or trade name, address, tax office and tax ID number
  • The document number and the date and time of issue
  • The table number or name
  • The name, quantity and price of each item or service
  • The total amount excluding and including taxes
  • The ETTN (unique ID) of the invoice issued at the end of service, or details of the cash register (ÖKC) that printed the receipt

How is an e-Adisyon issued?

For most businesses, the switch goes through a GİB-authorized private integrator. The general steps:

  1. 1

Complete your e-Invoice or e-Archive Invoice registration.

  2. 2

Get your financial seal (mali mühür) or qualified electronic certificate ready.

  3. 3

Choose a GİB-authorized private integrator (large businesses may opt for direct integration instead).

  4. 4

Map your tables, users and items to the guest check flow your integrator uses.

  5. 5

Test your payment and receipt or invoice scenarios, then go live.

Does an e-Adisyon replace the receipt or invoice?

No. An e-Adisyon shows what the guest had at the table, but it isn't a proof-of-payment document. Once service ends and payment is taken, an e-Invoice, e-Archive Invoice or ÖKC receipt must be issued and linked to the e-Adisyon. Failing to comply can lead to irregularity penalties under the Tax Procedure Law.

Digital guest checks vs. GİB e-Adisyon

A digital check kept in guest check software is not automatically an e-Adisyon.

Where Paketmaster fits

Paketmaster is guest check and restaurant operations software. It does not issue GİB e-Adisyon documents and is not a private integrator. It lets you manage table checks digitally, send payment totals to a compatible cash register POS, and report on your sales.

Getting ready for e-Adisyon with Paketmaster

The businesses that switch to e-Adisyon most easily are the ones already keeping their operational data in order, digitally.

Move your tables to digital

Leave paper behind with a floor plan and digital checks, so every order's table, time and items are on record.

Guest check software

Tidy up item and price data

Keep menu, price and item definitions in one place, so the system that issues documents gets clean data.

e-Adisyon FAQ

It is mandatory for businesses that offer table service and have been brought into scope or notified by GİB. Other businesses can switch voluntarily. Ask your accountant about your exact situation.

A guest check relates to table service, so delivery-only sales without table service generally don't require one. You still have to issue an invoice or receipt for each sale.

No. After payment, an e-Invoice, e-Archive Invoice or ÖKC receipt is issued and linked to the e-Adisyon.

No. A digital check in Paketmaster is an operational record. Official e-Adisyon documents are issued through a GİB-authorized private integrator or direct integration.
